Yes! All iPhone 15 models feature the Dynamic Island, replacing the notch design that Apple has used since the iPhone X. This is a slight change from the iPhone 14 where only the Pro models had the Dynamic island. This sleek, non-intrusive design change will be present in all of the iPhone 15 models including the standard iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, Pro and Pro Max versions.
Although the standard iPhone 15 models will transition to the Dynamic Island, they won’t have the ProMotion or always-on display technologies, which will remain exclusive to the Pro variants.
What Is Dynamic Island?
The Dynamic Island is a new feature that was introduced on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. It is a pill-shaped cutout at the top of the screen that houses the TrueDepth camera system and other sensors. The Dynamic Island is different from the notch in that it can change shape and size to accommodate different types of content. For example, it can expand to show a phone call in progress or shrink to show a notification.
Functions Of Dynamic Island On The iPhone 15
The Dynamic Island is also interactive. You can tap on it to open the app that is currently using it, or you can swipe up on it to dismiss it. The Dynamic Island is a clever way to make the most of the space at the top of the iPhone screen. It is also a more visually appealing way to house the TrueDepth camera system and other sensors.
Other Features That Come With The iPhone 15
The introduction of the Dynamic Island will accompany other notable updates like the shift from a Lightning port to a USB-C port. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro’s Dynamic Island will have an updated design incorporating an integrated proximity sensor. While this doesn’t notably alter the look or function of the Dynamic Island, it may affect component costs, potentially reducing the device’s overall cost.
