To reset the password on your HP Stream laptop when you’ve forgotten it, you can use one of three methods:
- Windows Password Reset Tool:
- Turn on your HP Stream laptop and press F11 repeatedly after the HP logo appears to enter Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE).
- Navigate to “Troubleshoot” > “Advanced options” > “Startup Settings”, then enter Safe Mode with Networking.
- In Safe Mode, open the Settings app, go to Accounts > Sign-in options, and choose “Reset your password. Follow the prompts to create a new password.
- HP Cloud Recovery Tool:
- Download the HP Cloud Recovery Tool from HP’s website, using your laptop’s serial number.
- Save the recovery image file to a USB drive.
- Insert the USB drive into your HP Stream laptop, restart the laptop, and press F11 repeatedly to boot into WinRE.
- Choose “Troubleshoot” > “Advanced options” > “System Image Recovery”, and then follow the instructions to reset the password using the downloaded recovery image.
- USB Recovery Drive:
- If you have a USB recovery drive, insert it into the laptop, turn on your laptop, and press F11 to boot into WinRE.
- Navigate to “Troubleshoot” > “Advanced options” > “System Image Recovery”.
- Select the recovery image file from the USB drive and follow the on-screen instructions to reset your laptop’s password.
Each of these methods can help you regain access to your HP Stream laptop if you’ve forgotten the password. Remember to carefully follow the steps for the method you choose. If you encounter difficulties, contacting HP support may be a helpful next step.
