Apple continues to shape the future of technology, with a series of innovative products lined up for release in 2024 and the following years. This article brings together the latest rumors, speculations, and confirmed releases to offer an insightful glimpse into the tech giant’s upcoming advancements.
Looking Back At The Launches Of 2023
Apple launched new MacBook Pro models, equipped with the advanced M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. Also unveiled were new M2 and M2 Pro Mac mini machines and a larger-sized $299 HomePod.
The biggest launches in 2023 on the mobile device front were around the iPhone 15 and Apple Watch 9.
On the software front iOS 17, iPadOS 17, tvOS 17, watchOS 10, and macOS Sonoma came out in 2023.
What’s Coming In 2024
Vision Pro Headset
The first major launch expected for 2024 is going to be the Vision Pro Headset (announced at WWDC). The Vision Pro Headset is expected to go head to head with Meta’s Quest 3 and people are excited because this is going to be Apple’s entry to this market. The Apple Vision Pro is a mixed reality headset that displays augmented reality content overlaid on world around you, and immersive entirely virtual content. It will be interesting to see how this product integrates with other Apple favorites as this takes the ecosystem to a new level.
New Macbook Pro and iMac Models
Apple is expected to come out with new MacBook Pro models in 2024 and a faster, redesigned 24-inch iMac with all new specs to enhance user experience.
New iPad Pro, iPad Air, and AirPods
Apple is slated to introduce more updated versions of the iPad Pro and iPad Air, a third-generation AirPods Pro, and a refreshed 8th generation version of the Apple TV. In 2024 it’s expected that USB-C charging case versions of the Airpods lineup will be released. There may also be an updated release on the AirPods Max.
Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Keyboard
As Apple transitions all of their products away from lightning ports and onto the new USB-C standard they are adopting company-wide, we’re expecting releases and re-releases across the product line. Expect new accessories & peripherals to re-launch in 2024 with slight modifications to them. Most likely the updates on the Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Keyboard will launch when the new iMac comes out.
Further Out In The Future
Apple has been working on a foldable iPhone for several years now and it’s not expected to launch in 2024. When it does, it will be a big deal as this market seems to be the future. Samsung users who have foldable phones love them so it would make sense for Apple to get a piece of that pie.
Apple has been rumored in other categories as well (like the Apple Car, Apple Solar, Apple Television, etc.) so while nothing related to those is expected in 2024, it will be interesting to see if some major announcement comes out. The Vision Pro Headset is a whole new category for Apple but it’s not going to shock the world like the iPhone did.
Conclusion
Apple’s trajectory of innovation is inevitable, although in recent years their ability to change the world with never before seen technology has slowed. Maybe the Vision Pro headset will be a star in 2024, but if we’ve learned anything from Meta’s attempts at VR headsets it may be a very niche item.
As we’ve seen time and time again, there will be upgraded hardware with faster processors, more memory, etc. But will Apple have an ace up their sleeve? We’ll see. It’s likely their next groundbreaking announcement will come in an area like a foldable iPhone but you never know with a company like Apple – they might come up with something we can’t think of.
